Joining Cosgrove in the pregame recognition was midfielder Lily Yednock, who has been injured for much of the season, yet still ends her career at Coastal Carolina as the program's all-time leader in ground balls (71) and caused turnovers (53).
Presbyterian was able to remain within striking distance for a good portion of the first half, but with Coastal leading 3-2 with 16:27 to play, the Chanticleers ripped off four consecutive goals in a span of under four minutes to assume a 7-2 lead. They found the back of the net four more times prior to halftime and took an 11-4 lead into intermission.
The Chanticleers kept their foot on the pedal and came out firing in the second half as the scored five straight goals in a span of just over seven minutes to take a comfortable 16-4 lead. A running clock was initiated for the majority of the second half as Coastal was able to cruise to its fourth conference victory of the season.
Also turning in major contributions on the offensive end were junior attacks Keri White and Sara Nolan. The duo combined for six goals and three assists. White notched her ninth multiple-goal game and sixth hat trick of the season to go along with two assists. Nolan turned in her sixth multiple-goal game and fourth hat trick as she also added an assist.
Additionally, with their offensive performances today, Cosgrove and White are currently tied for the team lead with 30 goals this season, good for a new single-season program record.
On the defensive end, the Chanticleers, who entered the game ranked second in the Big South in goals against average (9.31), held their opponents to single digits for the second consecutive game. Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Stover recorded six saves to her only four goals allowed before giving way to junior Trista Kuehn in the second half. Kuehn also held her own as she kept the Blue Hose to only three goals while also recording three saves.
For Presbyterian, junior attack Katy Richardson paced the offense with four goals and one assist. Her season total in goals scored is now up to 34.
With the win, Coastal improved to a perfect 3-0 against Presbyterian. The Chanticleers are now 9-5 on the season and 4-2 in conference, while Presbyterian is 3-12 overall and 0-6 in the Big South.
With the regular-season finale at Campbell scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m., the Chanticleers are currently ranked third in the league standings and hold a tie-breaker over both High Point and Longwood. A win at Campbell would guarantee the Chanticleers a third-place finish in the Big South.
