
Women's Golf Adds One To 2015 Recruiting Class

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina women's golf coach Katie Quinney announced the signing of Barbora Bakova to the program's 2015 recruiting class. Bakova will join fellow signee Marie Lunackova on campus in August.
Bakova, a native of Olomouc, Czech Republic, comes to Conway after spending her first two collegiate seasons at the University of Montana. During her time with the Griz, Bakova competed in 51 rounds, compiling a 76.12 scoring average. In her 18 events played she recorded five top-five finishes, including individual medalist honors at the 2015 Sacramento State Invitational. She carded a career-best round of 69 at the 2013 Grizzly Invitational in just her third collegiate round.
"Barbora will be a great addition to our program," said Quinney. "She has already proven to be a good collegiate player and has already won a tournament to go along with her numerous other top-10 event finishes. I look for her to use her wealth of experience to make an immediate impact in our lineup next year."
As a freshman (2013-14 season), Bakova competed in nine events, registering two top-10 finishes, including a second-place showing in her collegiate debut at the 2013 Grizzly Invitational. In addition to her pair of top-10 efforts, she carded two 11th-place finishes. An All-Big Sky Conference second team selection, she finished the season with a 76.69 scoring average and turned in four rounds of par or better. Her best three-round score was a 3-over 216 (73-74-69).
Bakova's sophomore season (2014-15) was highlighted by her first collegiate victory at the Sacramento State Invitational with a 6-over 222 three-round score. A unanimous selection to the All-Big Sky Conference first team, she shot back-to-back rounds under par at the Washing State Cougar Cup en route to her career-best 54-hole score of 1-under 215 (70-71-74). Four of her 25 rounds were at par or better, while her scoring average improved by more than a full stroke to 75.52.
