May 24, 2015 BRADENTON, Fla. - Coastal Carolina University's Lena Schaeffner is through 36 holes of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships. The junior turned in a 6-over 78 Saturday on the par-72, 6,468-yard The Concessions Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The Rettigheim, Germany, native shaved five strokes off her opening round 83 and has a two-round score of 161 heading into Sunday's third round.
Schaeffner, who teed off on the front nine Saturday, started her round with six straight pars before encountering her first bogey of the day on par-5 seventh hole. She followed her bogey on seven with a double-bogey on eight and a bogey on nine to make the turn at 4-over.
She immediately got two strokes back on the 10th hole as she holed out from the fairway for an eagle on the par-4, 374-yard hole. A bogey on 11 moved her round back to 3-over. She responded with four consecutive pars before recording a double-bogey on 16. She closed her round with par and bogey for her 78.
