Skillman, N.J. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team finished eighth in the Carolina Region as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its final rankings for the 2014-15 season. The regional ranking places the Chanticleers among the likes of North Carolina, Duke, Clemson, South Carolina and Wake Forest.
The ITA, which is the governing body of collegiate tennis, releases final national and regional rankings at the conclusion of each tennis season. The regional rankings include the top 10 teams, top 20 singles players and top 10 doubles pairs from each of the country's 12 regions.
Coastal closed the 2015 spring season with a 16-6, 8-1 record to earn a share of the Big South Regular Season Championship and the second seed in the Big South Tournament, where the Chants advanced to the title match for the second time in the past four years.
The 2014-15 season was also highlighted by the opening of the brand new Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex. Hewitt and the Chanticleers defended their new facility well, finishing with a 6-1 record on their new home courts.
Fellow Big South members Charleston Southern (#6) and Winthrop (#9) were also included in the Carolina Region final rankings.
