TORONTO, Canada - Rising Coastal Carolina track & field senior Jessica Gelibert advanced to Wednesday's 400m hurdles final at the 2015 Pan American Games by virtue of her qualifying time of 57.58 during Tuesday's semifinal heats.
Gelibert, who owns both the Coastal Carolina and Big South Conference 400m hurdles record with a 56.87, clocked her fastest time of the season Tuesday. She placed fifth in the second of two qualifying heats, but her 57.58 time was seven tenths faster than Canada's Sage Watson for the final qualifying spot.
Gelibert, who is representing Hati at the games, will compete in the 400m hurdles final Wednesday at 7 p.m. She enters the event as the sixth seed.
