Walker to Compete in U18 European Championships

Update: Wales placed third in the Division C grouping behind Scotland and Malta. It is the second bronze medal that Walker has won with the Wales national team. Walker averaged 9.3 points, 16.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in Wales' four games.

Tanisha Walker of the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will represent her home country of Wales during the 2015 U18 European Women's Division C Basketball Championships, set to take place July 6-11 at Tercentenary Sports Hall.

Wales is competing in Group A along with Andorra, Gibraltar, Malta and Scotland. Wales opens the first round of play against Scotland on Monday before taking on Gibraltar on Tuesday.

Walker has been playing for the Wales national team since 2011 and is representing her country at her sixth European tournament. Walker previously competed in two U18 European Championships (2013, 14) and three U16 European Championships (2011, 12, 13).

Walker's best international outing to date was the 2013 U16 European Championship where she averaged career highs in tournament play with 13.3 points and rebounds per game. Walker's efforts led Wales to a bronze medal that year and earned her a place on the all-tournament team.

In each of her U18 Euro Championship appearances, Walker has averaged over seven points and 11 rebounds per game.
