CONWAY - Coastal Carolina head men's golf coach Kevin McPherson released the program's 2015-16 schedule which includes five fall events and five in the spring, including its own General Hackler Championship.
The annual General Hackler Championship will be held Mar. 12-13 and returns to the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The 15-team field features 10 teams that advanced to the 2015 postseason, including NCAA Championship participant South Carolina as well as NCAA Regional teams Charleston Southern, Charlotte, East Carolina, Iowa State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Florida, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Also, Texas A&M's Adria Arnaus, who played in the 2015 NCAA Lubbock Regional, will join his Aggie teammates at this year's Hackler Championship.
The Chants open the season at the Rees Jones Collegiate, hosted by NCAA Regional participant Kennesaw State Sept. 20-22 at Haig Point Club in Daufuskie Island. The following weekend (Oct. 3-4), Coastal will return to North Carolina's Tar Heel Invitational. From Oct 0-11, the Chanticleers will make its annual trip to Jonesborough, Tenn., for the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which is hosted by 2015 NCAA Regional participant East Tennessee State. Coastal will close the fall portion of it schedule with two events in South Carolina, including the USC-Camden Intercollegiate Oct. 24-25 and Charleston Southern's Kiawah Classic (Nov. 1-3).
The spring portion of the schedule opens with Coastal making its annual trip to Ponte Vedra, Fla., for the John Hayt Collegiate, played Feb. 26-28 at Sawgrass Country Club. The Chants will return home to play in the Palmetto Collegiate on Mar. 7-8 in Aiken. After hosting the General Hackler, Coastal will play in two events in April, including the prestigious 3M Augusta Invitational April 2-3 and the Coca-Cola Wofford Invite April 11-12.
The Big South Championship will return to The Patriot Club in Ninety-Six. The conference championship has been contested at the site in each of the last eight years and 11 of the last 12 with CCU winning six titles at the course.
Coastal will look to keep its postseason streak alive at the NCAA Regionals (May 16-18). Coastal has been represented at an NCAA Regional in each of the last 16 years. The NCAA Championship will be May 27-June 1 and hosted by the University of Oregon at Eugene Country Club.
