CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team wrapped up the CCU Battle at the Beach on Sunday, competing against Francis Marion in both singles and doubles and finishing its doubles matches against Gardner-Webb that were rained out on Saturday.
The Chanticleers split the four doubles matches with Gardner-Webb, won all six singles matches against Francis Marion and took two of three doubles matches against the Patriots to move their overall record in the three-day tournament to 24-6.
"We had a beautiful day to finish off the weekend, and it was great to get a lot of tennis in today," said Chanticleer head coach Chris Powers. "I am pleased with the start of the fall season. We were very solid in singles up and down the line with some good doubles results as well. Nice start to the fall, and I look forward to hitting the practice court again with these guys this week."
The Coastal pairs of Rick Timmerman and Vuk Velickovic, and Nic Planchard and Francesco Migliano, recorded doubles wins versus Gardner-Webb.
Timmerman and Velickovic also notched a doubles win versus Francis Marion, as did the Chanticleer duo of Renan Samed and Sebastian Schneider.
In singles, Velickovic, Schneider, Planchard, Migliano, Timmerman and Samed all recorded victories versus the Patriots.
The Chanticleers hold an inter-squad scrimmage on Thursday and Friday before continuing their fall schedule at the Elon Fall Invitational Oct. 2-4.
