CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sunday marked the final day of competition for the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team at the College of Charleston Invitational, and was highlighted by Laura Mary winning the B1 singles flight with a three-set victory over Maja Salibasic of Stetson.
Mary advanced to the championship match of the B1 singles flight after knocking off Charlotte's Boder 6-0, 6-0, and CofC's Zschunke in three sets. The championship match between Mary and Salibasic ended 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-2 in Mary's favor.
In the A1 singles flight, Libby Scott fell in the semifinals but won the third-place match 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 over James Madison's Guibe.
The Chants also fared well in doubles, notching a pair of third place finishes.
Scott and Sara Bondar, paired together in the A1 doubles flight, reached the semifinals before falling 8-7 (7-5) to a pair from Samford. The Chant duo went on to win the third-place match, however, downing JMU's Herrock/Harris 8-3.
Coastal's second third-place finisher came in the A2 doubles flight where Romane Delay and Marie Babayan posted an 8-4 victory over Dean/Korac of Stetson.
Coastal's fall schedule resumes on Oct. 16 when the Chants head to North Carolina for the two-day Charlotte Invitational.
