CONWAY - After a back and forth start for the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team during the non-conference schedule, the Chanticleers head into conference play with a 4-4-0 record. This is the best start to the season going into conference play since the 2008 (5-4-0) campaign.
However, an exciting overtime (2-1) win last Wednesday over the NC State Wolfpack, should give the Chanticleers momentum as they begin their journey to the Big South Tournament.
Coastal (4-4-0) opens Big South Conference play on Wednesday night as they travel to Presbyterian (4-4-0). This will be the ninth meeting time between the two with Coastal holding a 6-1-1 edge over the Blue Hose. The last time the two met was in October of 2014 at the CCU Soccer Stadium, where the Chanticleers earned a 3-0 victory.
Freshman Kayla Christian has been the offensive leader for the Chants so far this season. She is tied for second in the Big South in goals (5) and ranks second in total points (11). Christian was also just named the Choice Hotels Big South Attacking Player of the Week on Monday.
Presbyterian played in the VMI Tournament this past weekend where they are coming off a 10-0 win against Hampton while suffering an overtime loss (1-0) to VMI. After finishing last in the Big South during the 2014 season, the Blue Hose were picked to finish in eleventh in the Big South Preseason poll.
After tying for second in the Big South and advancing to the Big South Semifinals during the 2014 season, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are looking to revamp for the 2015 campaign. You can watch live on the Big South Network or follow along online at GoBlueHose.com
