CLINTON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina womens soccer team earned their first Big South Conference victory Wednesday night with a 3-1 decision over the Presbyterian Blue Hose. For the second year in a row, the Chants win their Big South season opener. Coastal moves to a 5-4-0 (1-0-0) record while Presbyterian dropped to 4-5-0 (0-1-0).

Ellie Taylor tallied a goal and an assist, while Daniella Famili and Mikayla Williams also tacked on goals for the Chanticleers to earn the first victory of the Big South matchup.

The Chanticleers wasted no time in recording the first two shots of the game in under five minutes of the first half. Daniella Famili started the action for the Chants as she sent in a cross towards the back post for Ellie Taylor as she recorded her first shot. Just minutes later another Chanticleer shot from senior, Camilie Christie. Both shots forced the Presbyterian goalie Sydney Fontenot, to make the save.

Taylor put the Chants on the board to take the lead in the 11th minute of the game. The initial shot was blocked by a Presbyterian defender and deflected out but Taylor tucked it away for the goal. This was her second goal of the 2015 season and fifth of her career.

Just ten minutes later Taylor sent a cross in off the left flank towards the top of the box. Daniella Famili ran onto it powering through to place it in the back of the net. Famili's fourth of the season and seventh of her career.

The Chanticleers continued to pressure the Blue Hose defense recording four back to back shots before securing the third goal in the 41st minute. Mikayla Williams controlled a loose ball in the six-yard box surrounded by four Presbyterian defenders. After some fancy foot-work, Williams knocked one in for her second goal of the season.

Coastal dominated play throughout the first half only allowing Presbyterian three shots to Coastal's twelve.

Second half play begun with the Chants in a comfortable lead but allowed Presbyterian to sneak one through on miscommunication from Coastal's defense and goal keeper.

Becca Austin and freshman Morgan Divine, who made her career debut, split halves each totaling 45 minutes. Austin having to make the only save on the night between the two.

Coastal finished the night with 19 shots to Presbyterian's five. Ellie Taylor led the team in shots recording four with two shots on goal, followed by Brooke Horist and Danielle Famili each tallying three.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will continue conference play on Saturday Sept. 26 as they travel to Farmville, Va. to take on the Longwood Lancers. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
