Saayman Takes Another Big South Honor

Charlotte, N.C. - For the second time this season, Letitia Saayman of the Coastal Carolina women's cross country team has been named the Big South Choice Hotels Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Saayman placed third among a field of 123 runners in the Panorama Farms Invitational, also the site of the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 13, this past weekend leading the team to a seventh place finish out of nineteen teams.
The South African native completed the course in a time of 17:02, just seconds from first and second place runners from the University of Virginia. Saayman finished among a top 10 that featured four runners from UVA's nationally ranked program, with Saayman crossing the finish line ahead of two.
The conference runner of the week honor is the second of the year for Saayman, who received this award three times last year and now has captured nine weekly honors since 2013.
Saayman and the rest of the Coastal Carolina cross country teams return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The race is set to start at 9 a.m. ET.
