Chants Wrap Up at Camel City Invitational: Day 2

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina indoor track and field team finished out the JDL Camel City Invitational Saturday afternoon with ten Chants placing in the top 10 of their events.

On the women's side...

The four Lady Chants who competed in the women's 4x400 meter relay took home ninth place clocking a time of 4.03.84. Jonnay Anthony led the Chants off with a split of 1:02.02, followed by Rozelle Meier (1:01.19) and Takeyra Jenkins-Dodd (1:02.40) in the middle and bringing up the rear was Imani Boatwright (98.21) who clocked the fastest split of the four.

Senior Teka Simpson crossed the line at 7.91 in the women's 60 meter dash followed by teammate Kelila Naules finished with a time of 8.00.

Amirah Al-Bayyinah took home second place in the triple jump with her best jump coming at 12.56 meters (41-02.50). Also for the Chants, Kelila Naules placed ninth with her best jump at 11.35 meters (37-03.00) and Veneshia Holmes placed 11th with a jump of 11.20 meters (36-09.00).

Closing out the day for the Chanticleers was junior Emma Kroger placing sixth on the pole vault with her best jump coming at 3.66 meters (12-00.00).

On the men's side...

Kahlim Denmark placed 10th overall in the men's 60 meter dash clocking a time of 6.90 to start things off for the men.

In the men's 60 meter hurdles, Desmond Wallace took home eight place crossing the finish line with a time of 7.92 while Dee Jennings finished with a time of 8.35.

Jennings also led the men's 4x400 meter relay team to a 10th place finish with the help of Charles Bascom, Nick Seabright and Malcolm Simmons clocking a time of 3:35.45.

In the field, Derrick Kinloch took home sixth place in the triple jump with his best jump at 14.38 meters( 47-02.25). Also for the Chants Devontaye Edwards placed seventh in shotput with his best throw at 15.28 meters (50-01.45). Ryan Minor had his best throw at 14.29 meters ( 46-10.75) placing 10th while Zach Bolton rounded out shotput for the Chants with his best throw at 13.95 meters (45-09.25) placing 13th.

Both the men's and women's team will return to action next weekend as they travel to the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
