NEW ORLEANS, La. - Leah Hardeman of the Coastal Carolina volleyball team was named the Sun Belt's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, as voted upon by the league's head coaches, for matches played Oct. 10-16. It is the second Offensive POTW honor this season for Hardeman, who also received the award on Sept. 26.
Hardeman led Coastal to a pair of wins last week, both against Appalachian State, to help the Chants extend their season-long winning streak to five matches.
For the week, Hardeman averaged 4.43 kills per set while hitting .448 and adding five service aces. She put down 12 kills at a .476 pace during Friday's sweep of the Mountaineers, then closed the week with 19 kills, four aces and a .432 hitting percentage in a four-set win on Sunday. The junior outside hitter also added 10 digs in Sunday's match to complete the double-double, her eighth of the season.
Hardeman and the Chants, currently at the top of the Sun Belt East Division, will look to keep their winning streak intact this weekend as they host a pair of conference matches at the HTC Center. Coastal takes on UL Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and UL Monroe at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
