CLINTON - Coastal Carolina scored twice in the first two minutes of the game and rushed for a season-high 322 yards -- thanks to Jah-Maine Martin's 120 and Kenneth Daniels' 100 -- to lead #18 Coastal Carolina to a 48-17 victory at Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

While the offense was piling up the yards, the Coastal Carolina defense shutout the Blue Hose in the second half and held them to just 57 total yards in the second half to secure the win.

Martin, a true freshman that was playing in just his second game, had 12 rushes for 120 yards with two scores. Daniels, getting his second career start, added 100 yards on 15 carries with two scores. The duo was getting their second straight game action due to the injury of De'Angelo Henderson.

Today marked just the fourth time in CCU history two players rushed for over 100 yards in the same game. The others were Patrick Hall (195) and Ren McKinnon (116) in 2004 versus Charleston Southern; Lorenzo Taliaferro (139) and Henderson (117) versus Charlotte in 2013 and Alex Ross (123) and Taliaferro (104) in a playoff win at Montana.

CCU quarterback Tyler Keane, who completed his first eight passes as well as a total of three two-point conversions, finished with 122 passing yards and two TDs as he completed 9-of-16 passes. True freshman quarterback Ryan Lee added 59 rushing yards and he completed his first career pass.

Coastal wasted no time in taking a 15-0 lead. The Chanticleers took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in just six plays to score. Keane was 5-for-5 passing on the drive, including a 38-yard touchdown pass to Ky'Jon Tyler. Keane then connected with Maxwell Kjosa for the two-point conversion and 8-0 lead. The reception for the redshirt freshman Kjosa was the first of his career.

Then, Presbyterian fumbled on its first play from scrimmage with Coastal's Jabarai Bothwell recovering the ball. On the next play, Keane found Laquay Brown for a 20-yard score and a 15-0 lead. Brown, a sophomore tight end, has two receptions this season, both touchdowns.

Undaunted, the Blue Hose marched 75-yards to trim their deficit to 15-7. Ben Cheek had an eight-yard run, an 11-yard completion and, after a 13-yard run by Darrell Bridges, a 13-yard completion to quickly move PC to the CCU 30. Cheek then capped the drive with a 30-yard completion down the left sideline to Cedric Frazier for a touchdown.

Coastal scored on its third of four possessions in the first quarter. After a short punt, Ryan Lee took over at quarterback and had back-to-back runs of 18 and 20 yards to get to the PC 12. Three plays later, Martin bulled his way into the end zone for a three-yard touchdown, the first for the true freshman from Conway. Keane hit A.J. Sattinger, who scored the two-point conversion to give Coastal a 23-7 lead with 2:22 left in the period. Sattinger, who added a second two-point conversion early in the third quarter, now has six career two-point plays for his career.

Coastal let a scoring opportunity slip away after a three-yard PC punt to the 25. However, two plays after the missed field goal, C.J. Thompson recorded his second career interception. Four plays later, Daniels found paydirt with a 12-yard touchdown run.

Presbyterian answered with a touchdown to make the score 30-14 in CCU's favor. Cheek had a 13-yard run and a late hit moved the ball to the CCU 15. The Blue Hose faked an end-around and Bridges scored with 7:34 left.

As the first half expired, Brett Norton hit a 28-yard field goal to make the score 30-17 at the break.

Three plays into the second half, Thompson intercepted his second pass of the game. Lee hooked up with Bruce Mapp for a 27-yard gain and Daniels got the PC two yard line on an 11-yard run. The Lee-to-Mapp completion was Lee's first career pass attempt and Mapp's 162nd career reception, moving him past Jerome Simpson for second on the CCU all-time list. Martin scored his second touchdown of the game. Keane rolled left and threw back to the right to a wide open Sattinger for the two-point conversion and 38-17 lead.

On the final play of the third quarter, Ryan Granger split the uprights from 44 yards to put CCU on top 41-17.

Daniels reached the 100-yard barrier on his final run of the day, a four-yard touchdown to provide the 48-17 final.

Coastal Carolina will conclude the season with four straight home games starting next Saturday (Nov. 5) versus Monmouth.
