WIESBADEN - Former Coastal Carolina volleyball player Eszter Nagy recently signed a professional contract to play with VC Wiesbaden, a member of top women's volleyball league in Germany.
Nagy was selected by the club after VCW had suffered several injuries and needed a replacement at middle blocker.
She was previously playing with Vasas Budapest before signing on with VCW and was also competing with the Hungarian national team, which qualified for the CEV European Women's Volleyball Championship two weeks ago.
Nagy played for the Chanticleers from 2012-15, appearing in 420 sets and starting 110 of 113 matches played. At the end of her four-year career she ranked first in Coastal Carolina history and second in Big South Conference history with a .352 career hitting percentage. She also set Coastal and Big South single-season records with a .417 hitting percentage in 2015.
"Eszter played really well with the Hungarian national team during the European Championship qualification tournament in September," said Chanticleer head coach Jozsef Forman. "Her hard work has payed off and we are really proud of her. We're confident that she will represent Coastal with class."
VCW also recently signed Texas alumnus and former All-American Molly McCage.
