Dec. 1, 2016 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team enters its third straight NCAA Tournament Friday as the Chanticleers take on James Madison at 4:30 p.m. at North Carolina's Carmichael Arena.

- Friday's match marks the third all-time meeting between the Chants and Dukes.

Coastal in the NCAA Tournament
- Coastal is makes is sixth overall NCAA appearance, and its third straight since the 2014 season.
- The Chants have played their first round match in Carmichael Arena in each of the last two season, falling in three sets to USC in 2014, and in four sets to #16 Creighton in 2015.
- Coastal's first set win in the NCAA Tournament came in the second game against #16 Creighton last season.
Coastal vs. AVCA Top 50
- Coastal played six matches against AVCA top 50 teams in the 2016 season, finishing with a 3-3 record.
- The Chants won in three sets at Notre Dame, four sets at Pitt and downed Georgia Tech in four sets in their first home match of the season.
- Two of Coastal's three losses came to nationally ranked teams, including then-#24 Purdue and then-#22 Michigan.
Chasing History
- Besides being its first ever victory in the NCAA Tournament, a win over JMU on Friday would give Coastal its first 28-win season in program history.
- Coastal enters the tournament riding a 17-match winning streak. A win on Friday would match the program record of 18 straight wins set by the 2015 squad.
A Look at JMU
- JMU finished the season with a 21-10 overall record, and went 11-5 in the CAA en route to regular season and tournament conference championships.
- JMU is making its third NCAA appearance in program history, and first since 2000. It was swept by Penn State (2000) and San Diego State in its two previous appearances.
- Senior right side Janey Goodman was named the CAA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while junior Taylor Austin became just the second Duke to earn CAA Defensive Specialist of the Year.
- JMU has won its last 10 matches.
