CONWAY - De'Angelo Henderson, Alex Scearce and Voghens Larrieux were named to the STATS FCS All-American team, it was announced today. It marks the third time in four years Coastal Carolina has landed three players on the prestigious squad.

Henderson and Scearce named to the second team while Larrieux was a third team selection. Henderson was additionally a second team STATS FCS All-American last season and joins Quinn Backus (2012, 2014 and 2014) and Josh Norman (2009 and 2011) as Coastal's only three players to earn All-American honors more than once. Scearce, named AP first team All-America last week, and Larrieux are first time All-Americans.

Henderson, a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton FCS Offensive Player of the Year, set an NCAA Division I record by scoring at least one touchdown in 35 consecutive games (all 14 games of 2014, all 12 games of 2015 and all nine of his games in 2016). Henderson missed three games this season due to injury and CCU was not eligible for the NCAA statistics as this was the first of a two-year transition from FCS to FBS. However, he would have ranked second in the FCS in points per game (12.0), fourth in rushing yards per game (128.4), fifth in total TDs scored (19), seventh in rushing TDs (16), 10th in rushing yards per carry (6.32) and, despite missing three games, 15th in total rushing yards (1,156). He ran for at least 100 yards in seven of his nine games, gaining 98 yards in another before being taken out of the game in the fourth quarter. He set a CCU single-season record by averaging 128.4 rushing yards per game -- thanks to a career-high 185 rushing yards versus Furman -- and tied a CCU single-game record by scoring four touchdowns versus Charleston Southern.

Henderson (Summerville, S.C.) shattered numerous Coastal Carolina records and leaves as the school's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,635), rushing attempts (721), rushing TDs (58), average yards per rush (6.43), average rushing yards per game (92.7), most 100-yard rushing games (25), all-purpose yards (5,556), all-purpose yards per game (111.1), points scored (386) and TDs scored (64), while ranking sixth in pass receptions (97), 10th in pass reception TDs (6) and 13th in receiving yards (921).

Scearce had a breakout season in 2016 and was perhaps the most productive player in the nation. He finished sixth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan FCS Defensive Player of the Year Award while finishing second in the voting among nominated linebackers. The Huntersville, N.C., product was the only player in the NCAA FCS with at least 70 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks and five interceptions. He additionally ranked third in all NCAA Division I by returning two interceptions for touchdowns as well as ranking third among Division I linebackers with seven pass break-ups. Overall, Coastal Carolina scored seven defensive touchdowns -- the second-best total in all Division I -- and Scearce was responsible for five (returned two interception returns for TDs, recovered a fumble for a TD and forced two fumbles that were recovered for TDs).

Scearce led the team with 84 tackles, set a CCU single-season record with eight sacks and had 13.5 tackles for loss, which ranks second on the CCU single-season list. He additionally ranked 14th in the FCS with five interceptions, which tied for the best total in all Division I among linebackers. Scearce also led the team with three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries while ranking second on the squad with seven pass break-ups.

Larrieux is the third offensive lineman in the last four years to earn STATS FCS All-American honors, joining Jamey Cheatwood (2013) and Chad Hamilton (2014). Larrieux started nine games at left tackle and three at right tackle due to injuries along the CCU offensive front. (Larrieux started all 14 games of the 2014 season at right tackle, opposite Hamilton and replaced Hamilton at left tackle for the 2015 season.) Even though Coastal went through seven quarterbacks and had its top two running backs injured during the season, the Chanticleer offense still had one of its most productive rushing seasons in school history. In addition to paving the way for Henderson, Larrieux led an offensive line until that produced three, 300-yard rushing games, two of which came with both Henderson and primary backup Osharmar Abercrombie injured as Kenneth Daniels rushed for at least 100 yards twice (at Presbyterian and versus Monmouth), true freshman Jah-Maine Martin had 120 yards in the only game he saw significant action at running back (at Presbyterian) and wide receiver-turned-quarterback Ryan Lee, also a true freshman, rushed for 121 yards versus Monmouth.

Larrieux has been a key contributor to some of Coastal Carolina's most productive games, seasons and careers on offense has he is one of five Chanticleers to play all 53 games over the last four seasons. He additionally joins fellow lineman Sam Ekwonike and wide receiver Bruce Mapp as the only three Chants to start each of the last 38, spanning the entirety of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons.
