Coastal Downs Francis Marion in Home Opener

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team made its 2016 home debut at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon, downing Francis Marion by a 6-1 margin.
Coastal improves to 2-1 overall with the win, while Francis Marion falls to 0-1 after its first match of the season.
The match was never in doubt as Coastal grabbed the opening doubles point and rattled off three straight singles wins to reach the match-deciding fourth point.
Francesco Migliano and Nic Planchard paired to deliver a 6-0 win on the third doubles court, and Jabor Al-Mutawa and Pedro Leme delivered the point on the second court with a 6-4 victory.
FMU's Richard Ashforth and Robin Hoek defeated Vuk Velickovic and Rick Timmerman 6-4 on the top doubles court.
Luiz Faria grabbed the first singles point at No. 6, followed by Migliano at No. 4 and Leme at No. 3. All three Chants won their respective matches in straight sets.
Raul Madrid then won FMU's lone point on the fifth court with a three-set win over Planchard.
Al-Mutawa took the second court in three sets, and Velickovic grabbed the No. 1 singles point in straight sets to round out the match.
Tuesday's match kicked off a stretch of six consecutive home matches for Coastal. The home-standing Chants return to their courts on Thursday to host South Carolina State for a 1 p.m. match.
