Feb. 5, 2016 Day 1 Results 
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Buccaneer Invitational Friday evening hosted by East Tennessee State University. Amirah Al-Bayyinah took home first place in the women's triple jump, with her best jump at 12.75m.
On the women's side...
Four Chanticleers competed in the 60 meter dash with two of the four qualifying for the semifinals. In the prelims, Karissa Lunn took 10th place with her best time at 7.78 and was followed by Teka Simpson with a time of 7.86, both earned a qualifying time to move one. Kelilia Naules (7.87) and Stephanie Pollock (8.11) rounded out the pack for the Chants during the prelims.
The Lady Chants finished 12th overall in the distance medley with a time of 13:16.82. Kayla Tracy led the Chanticleers off then was followed by Rozelle Meier and Imani Boatwright, while Regina Peattie anchored the back end.
Senior Teka Simpson finished sixth in the 200 meter prelims which qualified her the finals that will take place on Saturday. Simpson qualified with a time of 25.26. Also for the Chants, Jonnay Anthony (26.06) and Karissa Lunn (26.95) each ran in the 200 meter but were just short of qualifying.
In the field for the Chants, Samantha Layko had her best throw at 13.53 meters (44-04.75) in the weight throw, followed by Cari Pallini with her best throw at 12.19 meters (40-00.00).
Rounding out the day for the women, Amirah Al-Bayyinah took home first place in the triple jump with her best jump at 12.75 meters (41-10.00).
On the men's side...
To start off the day for the men, Desmond Wallace and Dee Jennings both competed in the 60 meter hurdles and both qualified for the semifinal round. Wallace ran an 8.18 in the prelims while Jennings put up a 8.30 time. Going into the semis, Wallace improved with a time of 7.93 and qualified again for the finals which will take place on Saturday. Jennings ran a 8.25, just short of a qualifying time.
Five Chants competed in the 400 meters with Braylon Wilkerson (48.76) earning a qualifying time for the finals on Saturday. Tre Stanley followed Wilkerson coming in 17th overall with a time of 50.06, Jerome Coaxum Jr. (50.25), Malcolm Simmons (50.85) and Therius Styles (52.10).
Kahlim Denmark ran a 6.89 in the 60 meter dash prelims which qualified him for the semifinals. Denmark then ran a 6.86 improving his time to qualify for the finals on Saturday. Chiason Tenkiang also competed in the 60m dash running a 7.19.
Denmark also qualified for the finals in the 200 meter race with a time of 21.84. Therius Styles (22.29) and Tenkiang (22.59) each ran in the 200 meter but were just short of qualifying.
In the field for the Chants, Derrick Kinloch, Jr. took home 16th overall with his best jump at 14.28 meters (46-10.25). In the weight throw, Zach Bolton had his best throw at 14.23 meters (46-08.25).
Finishing the day off for the men was Brinson Corn (4.35 meters (14-03.25)) and Zach Connell (4.35 meters (14-03.25)) both placed eighth overall in the pole vault. Alex Botello also competed taking home ninth overall all with his best jump at 4.35 meters (14-03.25).
