Sunday's contest -- the first meeting ever between Coastal and Louisville -- opened with a short feeling out process and impressive goalkeeping from both sides. Both teams showcased solid defense in the early going, and neither team was able to break through until Koloski got Louisville on the board in the fifth minute of play. Junior goalkeeper Jenna Stover kept Coastal in the game by making six saves in the opening half, but the Chants managed to get off just three shots before the midway mark.
Coastal struck first after the break, as Sophie Crowther scored to cut the deficit to 8-1 with 28:03 left in regulation. But Louisville responded with seven unanswered goals in the next 20 minutes, including a score from Daley on a free position shot.
The Chants couldn't muster much offensively following Crowther's goal, and Morissette effectively iced the game with a goal with 9:16 left, putting the Cardinals on top, 15-1.
In the waning minutes of the second half, Crowther scored her second goal of the game and ninth of the season, wrapping the contest with Louisville on top, 16-2.
In net, Stover had a game-high 10 saves for Coastal. Louisville's Brittany Read finished with eighth saves.
Louisville had the advantage with 17 ground balls to 8, and the Cardinals also outshot Coastal, 32-15. Additionally, Louisville had the edge in draw controls, 16-4.
