Women's Tennis Shuts Out Asheville

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team stretched its season-long winning streak to eight matches on Sunday with a 7-0 blanking of Big South opponent UNC Asheville at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
With the win, Coastal (12-3) remains perfect through four conference matches. Asheville, meanwhile, falls to 5-7 overall with a 1-3 conference mark.
"Today was another good match for us," said Chanticleer coach Catherine Hewitt. "Each match we are continuing to see good growth and execution from everyone."
The Chants opened the match with a sweep of all three doubles courts.
Libby Scott/Sara Bondar (No. 1) and Natalie Wall/Cari Berry (No. 2) turned in matching 6-1 wins, while Marie Babayan/Romane Delay won the No. 3 doubles match by a 6-2 margin over Hunter Hall/Lauren Brooker.
Coastal then claimed all six singles points to complete the shutout.
Babayan (No. 4), Wall (No. 3) and Bondar (No. 5) won the first three singles points, all in straight sets, to ensure the win. Scott (No. 1) and Delay (No. 2) added straight-sets victories of their own, and Berry (No. 6) finished the match with a three-set win on the last court.
Coastal will look to add to its streak on Monday when the Chants host Morgan State for an 11 a.m. match at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
