The Chanticleers raced out to a 5-0 lead after one complete inning. Bri Chiusano drew a leadoff walk and moved up on a Forbes bunt. Morgan Noad (2-for-3) hit an RBI single to drive Chiusano home. Dominik followed with her 11th round-tripper of the season to plate Forbes and Noad. Conrad kept the offense rolling with a single and advanced into scoring position on a Liberty fielding error. Robinson capped off the inning with an RBI single to score Conrad.

Liberty responded in the top of the second as Katie Han had an RBI single to make the score 5-1 in CCU's favor.

In the fourth, Coastal extended its lead to 8-1 with a pair of runs in the frame. Chiusano had a bunt single bunt and Noad singled. Dominik reached on a fielder's choice, driving in Chiusano, but Noad was safe at second due to a Liberty error. Conrad made the Flames pay for the miscue with an RBI single to center field that scored Noad.

With two outs in the fifth, Chiusano struck out, but reached first base on a wild pitch. She proceeded to steal second and advance to third on a Forbes single. Chiusano closed out the game as she scored on a wild pitch for the eight-run lead, 9-1, through five.
