Coastal Cruises Past Binghamton, 4-0

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team turned in a 4-0 shutout over visiting Binghamton on Monday afternoon as the Chanticleers wrapped up their non-conference schedule at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
Coastal improves its overall record to 14-4 with the win over the Bearcats, who fall to 7-9 on the season.
Binghamton played Coastal close to begin the match, as each team took one doubles decision before the opening point was settled on the first court.
The third Chanticleer pairing of Marie Babayan and Romane Delay struck first with a 6-1 win. Annie DiMuro and Sara Kohtz then bested Natalie Wall and Cari Berry, 6-3, to even the point.
Libby Scott and Sara Bondar held on to take the top court, 7-5, over Shea Brodsky and Alexis Tashiro to give Coastal the one-point advantage.
Scott easily put the Chants ahead 2-0, taking the first singles point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1. Babayan followed with a straight-sets win at No. 5, and Bondar finished the match besting Olga Ostrovetsky at No. 6.
The second, third and fourth singles went unfinished once the match was won.
Coastal has four Big South opponents remaining on its regular season schedule. The Chants begin the final stretch leading the conference championship on the road with a 2 p.m. match at Charleston Southern on Wednesday.
