Women's Tennis Tops Radford, 6-1

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match on Sunday afternoon as the Chanticleers cruised to a 6-1 win over the visiting Radford Highlanders at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
Coastal remains unbeaten through a pair of Big South matches, and moves to 8-3 overall with Sunday's win. Radford, meanwhile, is still looking for its first win of the season as the Highlanders fall to 0-8, 0-3.
"We played a really great match today," said Chanticleer coach Catherine Hewitt following the victory. "We had a solid week of practice and I'm very encouraged with our overall performance."
Coastal opened the match with a pair of doubles wins to take an early 1-0 lead.
Marie Babayan and Romane Delay paired to deliver a 6-1 victory on the third doubles court, and Sara Bondar and Libby Scott sealed the point with a 6-2 decision at No. 1.
The Chants quickly clinched the match as play shifted to singles, taking the first three points to go ahead by a 4-0 margin.
Bondar started off singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6, followed by 6-0, 6-1 victory by Babayan at No. 5. Scott ensured Coastal's victory on the first court, topping Natalie Sayer 6-4, 6-0.
Delay (No. 3) and Cari Berry (No. 4) also won in straight sets for the Chants.
Radford's Tarrannum Handa delivered the Highlanders' only point with a three-set win over Natalie Wall at No. 2.
Coastal shifts back to non-conference play for its next match, a neutral-site meeting with South Carolina State in Charleston, S.C. on Thursday. Opening serve is set for 11 a.m.
