Scott, Delay, Bondar, Babayan Named All-Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Libby Scott, Romane Delay and Sara Bondar of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team were voted All-Big South selections as the conference announced its annual award winners on Thursday. In addition, Marie Babayan was named to the Big South All-Academic Team.
Scott was voted to the first singles and doubles team, and Bondar joined Scott on the first doubles team as the pair played the majority of the season together. Delay was named to the second team in singles.
It is the first season that the Big South has selected first and second team for all-conference awards.
Scott, now a four-time all-Big South singles selection, posted the team's second-highest winning percentage in singles this season. The senior went 15-5 overall while playing all matches on the first court, including a 7-1 mark in league play. Scott's lone loss in conference came in her final regular season match at #68 Winthrop, and followed an 11-match win streak that stretched over a month.
Delay saw action on each of the first five singles courts throughout the season, but played the majority of the year at No. 3 where she posted a 10-2 record. Overall, the junior finished 15-6 in singles, and added a 6-2 record against conference opponents. It is the first all-conference nod for the third-year Chanticleer.
Bondar is likewise receiving her first all-conference honors, while Scott is named All-Big South in doubles for the second time in her career. The Chanticleer duo proved to be one of the best in the Big South this season, finishing 14-3 overall and 7-1 in conference while playing all 17 of their matches on the first court. The pair's season was highlighted by a 10-match winning streak that lasted from Feb. 20 -- April 2.
Babayan was named to the All-Academic Team for the second time in her career, and second year in a row. A junior with a 3.8 cumulative GPA, Babayan closed the regular season 15-6, 7-1 in singles, and 14-5, 5-3 in doubles.
The Chanticleers look to win the program's third Big South tournament championship this weekend as they enter the conference tournament as the #3 seed, and square off against #6 UNC Asheville in Saturday's 3 p.m. quarterfinal. Live stats for the match are available HERE.
