Coastal Blanks PC on Senior Day

CONWAY - After being delayed several hours due to rain, Saturday's women's tennis match between Coastal Carolina and the visiting Presbyterian Blue Hose resulted in a 7-0 shutout for the home side at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex. The Chanticleer careers of seniors Libby Scott and Cari Berry were recognized prior to the match.
Scott won No. 1 singles and doubles matches, while Berry posted victories on the fourth singles and second doubles courts to help improve Coastal (16-4) to 6-1 in Big South matches.
Presbyterian fell to 10-11 overall with the loss, and remains winless in conference play at 0-7.
Scott paired with Sara Bondar on the top doubles court for a 6-1 victory. Berry and Natalie Wall combined for a 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 match was decided 6-3 in favor of Chanticleer duo Marie Babayan and Romane Delay.
All six singles points were decided in straight sets.
Bondar's win at No. 6 over Kayla Standford was followed by points from Babayan (No. 5) and Wall (No. 2) to seal the win.
Delay's victory over Demi Henschel at No. 3 followed Scott's and Berry's singles wins to close out the match.
Coastal will look to continue its run through the Big South with just two conference matches remaining, both of which are on the road. The Chants head to Winthrop on Monday for a 2 p.m. match before closing out the league schedule with an April 8 contest at Longwood. Coastal plays its regular-season finale at home on April 10 versus Emory.
