Final Stats

CONWAY - Sara Nolan scored on a free-position shot 39 seconds into overtime to lift Coastal Carolina to an 11-10 victory over Liberty on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.

The goal was Nolan's 89th time finding the back of the net in her four years at Coastal, and it moved her into first all-time in goals in the program's short history.

Nolan tallied a hat-trick, but Coastal was led offensively by Charlotte O'Leary, who notched four goals on the day. Haley Alexander added two goals and two assists for the Chants, and Sophie Crowther and Maggie Carr chipped in with a goal apiece.

Crowther was a solid force all over the field, causing two turnovers, winning two draw controls and scooping a ground ball. Defensively, Coastal was led by Nyra Constant, who caused two turnovers and scooped three ground balls.

Additionally, Courtney Genovese had arguably the best game of her season, winning two draw controls, scooping three ground balls, causing a turnover and tallying an assist. Lauren Thomas and Maddy Ciardi were also top contributors for Coastal's defense, which held Liberty to just three goals on seven shots in the second half.

With the victory, Coastal improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Lady Flames slipped to 1-10 and 0-2 in Big South action. The Chanticleers improved to 2-3 all-time against Liberty.

Coastal rallied back from a 7-4 halftime deficit, as O'Leary kept the Chants in the mix by scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Callie Francis and Hannah Pridemore responded with back-to-back goals to put the Lady Flames ahead 10-7, but Alexander scored twice and Crowther tallied a goal in the final 10 minutes to send the game into overtime with the teams tied 10-all.

Nolan scored the game-winner in the opening minute of overtime.

In net, Jenna Stover had a game-high five saves for Coastal. Liberty's Aubrie Tarris finished with four saves in the loss. Liberty had the advantage with 14 won draw controls to 11, but Coastal had the edge in ground balls, 17-9. The teams were tied 19-all in shots.
