CONWAY - In the bottom of the seventh with the game tied and two outs, Chiusano and Taty Forbes each singled followed by a Morgan Noad walk to load the bases for CCU. Dominik then reached on a fielders chioce to score Chiusano for the 4-3 walk-off win for Coastal.
With the win, Coastal sweeps the series, improves to 33-19 overall and is now 16-5 in the conference. The Bucs fall to a 21-30 overall and 9-12 in the conference.
Charleston Southern got on the scoreboard first with three runs in the top of the third. Caitlyn Emberson hit a two-run shot to center field and Brittany Mcpherson followed with a solo blast to make it 3-0.
The Chants responded in the bottom of the third when Forbes delivered an RBI single to cut their deficit 3-1. Timi Tooley and Angela Buccilli walked and Chiusano reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Forbes followed by smacking an RBI single to score Tooley to make it 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Chants tied it up at three apiece. Dominik drew a leadoff walk before Mackenzie Conrad reached on a fielder's choice. Tooley hit a single to left field to move Conrad to third. Alexis Alvino hit an RBI single through the left side to bring home Conrad while an error on the play allowed Tooley to take third. Tooley later scored on a passed ball for a score of 3-3.
Conrad (5-1) notched the victory pitching 2.1 innings after she came in relief in the top of the fifth. She recorded three strikeouts to keep the Bucs scoreless after the fifth. Ashley Guillette pitched 2.0 innings, giving up two hits and recording two strikeouts.
The Chanticleers will take next week off and return to action on Saturday, May 7 with a home doubleheader versus Big South leader Longwood. First pitch set for 3 p.m.
