CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Libby Scott of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the week for matches played March 28-April 3, the league announced on Wednesday. It is the third weekly conference honor collected by the senior this season.
Scott led Coastal with a combined 6-0 record last week, winning a trio of No. 1 singles and doubles matches to propel the Chants to home wins against Binghamton and Presbyterian, and a road victory over Charleston Southern.
Scott started her week in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Binhamton's Sara Kohtz, and followed with straight-sets wins in Coastal's conference matches against Charleston Southern and Presbyterian. In doubles, Scott paired with Sara Bondar to deliver three straight wins on the top court, including 6-3 and 6-1 marks against CSU and Presbyterian, respectively.
The senior from Dunedin, New Zealand, has played all eight Big South matches on the top court in both singles and doubles, resulting in 7-1 records in both. Overall, Scott is 15-5 in singles matches this season, and 15-4 in doubles, all being played at No. 1.
Coastal (16-5, 6-2) closes its conference schedule with a 10:30 a.m. match at Longwood (9-11, 2-6) on Friday. A win over the Lancers would guarantee the Chants the third seed in the upcoming Big South Championship, set to begin on April 15 in Lynchburg, Va.
