MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Senior outfielder Connor Owings, junior designated hitter G.K. Young, senior third baseman Zach Remillard and senior pitcher Mike Morrison have been named 2016 Division I All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association, it was announced Wednesday.

The four Chants are among 67 DI student-athletes that are part of the NCBWA's first, second and third team selections.

Owings and Young were both named first team selections, while Remillard and Morrison landed on the third team.

It is the first time a Chanticleer baseball player has been named a NCBWA All-American since Tommy La Stella was a second team selection in 2011. It is also the first time in program history that Coastal has been represented by four players on the list. The previous high was three in 2010 (Anthony Meo, Rico Noel and Jose Iglesias).

Owings' all-American nod is his second of the season, as the Gilbert, S.C., native was previously named a second team Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball All-American. Owings also claimed 2016 Big South Player of the Year honors, and is a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson Award (Breakout Player of the Year). This season, Owings became the first Chanticleer and third player in league history to be named Big South Hitter of the Week three times. He is currently one of six players in NCAA Division I with a .370 batting average, .470 on base percentage and .670 slugging percentage. In addition, he ranks 11th among all DI players in slugging percentage (.692), 24th in home runs (16) and 35th in both runs (60) and batting average (.379).

Young is earning his first career all-American honors. The Conway, S.C., native leads the Chants and ranks 17th in the NCAA with 91 hits. Young also sits in the nation's top 50 in home runs (17th) and RBI (20th). A 2016 first team All-Big South selection, Young is also a semifinalist for the 2016 Dick Howser National Player of the Year. This postseason, Young had a hit in three of four games and batted .307 at the Big South Championship, and followed that performance with a team-leading three RBI and the team's second-best batting averaging (.389) at the Raleigh Regional. Over two games in the Baton Rouge super regional, Young batted .428 with a pair of runs and RBI.

Remillard is also earning his first career all-American honors. The native of Cohoes, N.Y., was a first team All-Big South selection and has had an outstanding postseason for the Chants. Remillard was voted to the Big South All-Tournament team after batting .400 (6-for-15) in four tournament games with six home runs, and driving in six runs while scoring four of his own. In the Raleigh Regional, Remillard batted .353 with six hits, two runs scored and two RBI to be named the regional's Most Outstanding Player. Remillard leads the Chants in both home runs (19) and RBI (69), while ranking eighth and 11th among all NCAA DI players in the two categories, respectively.

Morrison joins Owings in earning his second all-American nod of the season as the senior was also previously named a Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball All-American. Morrison was a 2016 first team All-Big South selection as a relief pitcher, and currently ranks 35th in the NCAA DI with 11 saves. Morrison joins the list of the Chants having a terrific postseason, having been named the 2016 Big South Tournament MVP (one win, two saves, six scoreless innings, nine strikeouts) and a member of the 2016 Raleigh All-Regional Team (two saves in two appearances while retiring all 14 batters faced). Morrison earned his 11th save of the season after pitching the final three innings of Coastal's 11-8 win over LSU in the opener of the Baton Rouge super regional.
