Foley, Ala. - Mackenzie Gibbs scored her third goal of the season to give Coastal Carolina a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Texas State to advance to the semifinals of the 2017 Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship.

Gibbs' initial shot prior to the game-winner was saved by Texas State goalkeeper Heather Martin. However, Martin could not corral the ball which allowed Gibbs to punch the rebound into the net for the victory (104:41).

Texas State (10-6-1) got on the scoreboard first on an early goal from Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year Kassi Hormuth. Hormuth found a loose ball from a scrum in front of Chanticleer goalkeeper Rylee Atteberry and found the back of the net in the fifth minute for the 1-nil lead.

Coastal (10-7-1) then took control of the ball with precision passing to keep the tempo in their favor. However, solid defensive play by the Bobcats and Martin kept the Chants from putting an equalizer on the board.

For the first half, CCU outshot Texas State, 4-3, but the Bobcats held the advantage on corner kicks, 3-0. Kayla Christian led the Chants' offense in the first half getting off two shots, while Daniella Famili and Brooke Horist had one each.

The Chanticleers started the second half with possession and kept applying constant pressure on the Bobcats' defense. After solid opportunities from both squads, Lauren Dabner got her first goal of the year on a free ball in the middle of the box. Famili got the assist as she put a boot on the ball and left it in position for the one-timer from Dabner.

Regulation ended with the score knotted at one. Coastal outshot the Bobcats 13-7 through regulation with six shots being on goal. The second half saw the Chanticleers outshoot Texas State 2-0 on corners.

The first overtime saw each team have a solid chance to score but the defense for both teams stepped up to keep the game-winning goal from being scored in the first extra 10 minutes.

Coastal Carolina will face the winner of the No. 6 Georgia Southern and No. 3 Troy in the semifinals on Friday (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m. (CT)/8 p.m. (ET).
