Dustin Johnson is World #1

CONWAY - By virtue of his win Sunday, Coastal Carolina Hall of Famer Dustin Johnson has ascended to the #1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Johnson cruised to a five-shot win at the Genesis Open at historic Riviera Country Club versus arguably the toughest field of the 2017 season.
He is just the 20th player to be the world #1 since the ranking began i 1986. Also, Johnson has now won at least one event in each of his first 10 years on the PGA Tour. Arnold Palmer (17), Jack Nicklaus (17) and Tiger Woods (14) are the only other players who have won at least one PGA Tour event in each of their first 10 seasons.
Johnson won his first major last summer, claiming the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Including that victory, Johnson has won four times in the last eight months against the strongest fields in golf as he also won at the World Golf Championship at Firestone and the BMW Championship during the FedEX Cup Playoffs at Crooked Stick. Over his last 16 tournaments, he has finished no worse than third place in eight of them.
