Women's Tennis Wins at SC State, 6-1

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won its third straight match, including its second on the road, Monday afternoon as the Chanticleers downed South Carolina State, 6-1.
The match, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was moved up a day due to the threat of rain.
Coastal (8-2) swept the doubles point to start the match, and claimed the first four singles points to secure the win.
Coastal's third and second doubles teams of Alexa Tiefel/Maria Khomchenko and Natalie Wall/Rylie Cox, respectively, opened with back-to-back 6-1 victories to earn the doubles point.
The Chants' top pairing of Sara Bondar/Marie Babayan finished the round with a 6-0 sweep.
Khomchenko opened singles with a win by retirement on the fourth court while leading 6-1, 2-0.
Romane Delay (No. 2) and Bondar (No. 3) followed with straight-sets wins to provide the Chants' third and fourth points and seal the match.
Brooke Campbell added a 6-0, 6-3 win on the sixth court, and Cox finished the match with a three-set victory over Intissar Rassif on the first court.
SC State's lone point was provided by Marketa Marcanikova, who topped Tiefel at No. 5, 6-2, 6-3.
Coastal returns to the Stevens Tennis Complex for its next pair of matches, an 11 a.m. meeting with Charlotte on March 5, and 10 a.m. match against Richmond on March 7.
