CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina lacrosse team suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season as the Chanticleers fell, 13-6, to #20-ranked Louisville Wednesday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.
Louisville (8-2) led by three goals at the half before outscoring Coastal (3-2) 6-2 over the final 30 minutes.
The Cardinals' received a game-high six goals from Hannah Koloski, who netted four in the first half alone. Koloski also finished as the game's leader with 11 shots, 10 of which were placed on net.
Meghan Siverson added three goals for Louisville, and Elise Koehl rounded out the Cardinal's multiple goal-scorers with a pair.
Haley Alexander was the only Chant to find the back of the net on more than one occasion. The sophomore netted a pair, one from a free position shot.
Louisville held a 32-13 overall advantage in shots, including a 21-10 cushion in shots on goal.
The Cardinals grabbed a large lead early, scoring four unanswered goals in the game's first 10 minutes. Coastal then managed to trim the margin to just one, getting three straight from Sophie Crowther, Madeline Bromley and Alexander in less than five minutes.
Coastal's scoring streak was eventually negated, as Louisville responded with three straight goals of its own, including two from the stick of Koloski.
The Chants' found the net once more prior to half, as Haley Kyger scored an unassisted tally with less than two minutes remaining.
Much like the first half, Louisville opened the second with four straight goals to take a commanding 11-4 lead. The two sides traded a pair each over the final 13 minutes as the Cardinals held on for the win.
Brittany Read backstopped Louisville to her eighth win of the season while making four saves. Harley Barrett earned her third straight start between the pipes for Coastal, and made eight saves in the losing effort.
The Chants close their three-game home stand on Saturday when they host George Mason for a 1 p.m. contest at Brooks Stadium.
