Baseball’s 2018 Recruiting Class Ranked No. 14 Nationally

Coastal Carolina baseball’s 2018 recruiting class was ranked 14th-nationally by D1Baseball

Conway, S.C. – Coastal Carolina baseball's 2018 recruiting class was ranked No. 14 nationally by D1Baseball, it was announced today. This is the third top 25 national ranking for the Chants' freshman class this fall, which was also ranked No. 18 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 25 from Baseball America.

CCU is once again the lone Sun Belt Conference team to be ranked in the top 25 by D1Baseball. The Chants were also the only Sun Belt team ranked in both Baseball America's top 25 and in the top 30 by Collegiate Baseball this year.

Highlighted by signees Nick Lucky (14th round – Boston Red Sox), Garrett McDaniels (30th round – Miami Marlins) and Jacob Maton (38th round – Seattle Mariners) that were all drafted in June's 2018 MLB Draft, the Chanticleers' class is comprised up of 15 newcomers, including 12 freshmen and three junior college transfers.

The D1Baseball Recruiting Class Rankings were compiled in consultation with the Prep Baseball Report. D1Baseball also sought input from recruiting coordinators and scouts across the country, in an attempt to balance instant impact with long-term potential. The ranking is based on the newcomers that showed up on campus this fall.
