CARY, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team saw its run through the ITA Carolina Regional come to an end on Sunday as all Chants were eliminated from their respective draws. The highlight of the weekend was junior Zak Talic, who advanced to the round of 16 in the 128-person main singles draw.

Men's Singles Draw (Full Results)
Talic's march to the draw's fourth round started with an opening-round victory over USC Upstate's Francisco Neto in straight sets. He then outlasted Wofford's Edu Villar in three sets, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, setting up a match against Asheville's Oli Nolan in the third round. Talic defeated Nolan in three sets to become the lone Chant to advance to the fourth round. There, he fell to Wake Forest's Rrezart Cungu, the 15th-seeded player in the draw. 

Also advancing in the main singles draw were Gonzalo Achondo, Joel Popov and Pyry Hyrkkonen. 

Achondo reached the round of 32 after defeating Wake Forest's Pat Hannity and Presbyterian's Nick McKinney in the first and second rounds, respectively. He fell out of the bracket with a third-round loss to North Carolina's Josh Peck, the 14th-seeded player in the bracket.

Popov and Hyrkkonen both advanced to the second round of the main singles draw. Popev registered a victory over UNCG's Roger Rogowski in the first round before falling to Gabriel Dias of Winthrop in the second round. Hyrkkoken defeated Wake Forest's Ryan Mueller in the first, but could not get past Daniel Rodrigues of South Carolina in the second.

Men's Consolation Singles (Full Results)
After falling in the first round of main singles draw, Luiz Faria won three matches to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation singles draw. Faria opened with a victory over Clemson's Carlos Kelaidis, followed by wins over Appalachian State's Zion Heaven in the second and North Carolina's Arturo Schmidt in the third. Faria's run came to an end against Duke's Robert Maciag in the quarterfinals.

Also in the consolation singles draw was Daiki Tanabe, who fell to Oliver Palmer of UNCG in the second round after defeating North Carolina Central's Christos Dagklis in the first.

Men's Doubles Draw (Full Results)
Coastal was represented by three pairings in the main doubles draw, with only two advancing past the opening round. 

Popov/Talic defeated the East Carolina pairing of Simon Labbe/Javier Renones in the first round, but fell to Spencer Furman/Sean Sculley of Duke in the second. Achondo/Tanabe advanced to the second round after defeating Gabriel Dias/Lluis Mirales of Winthrop, but went no further in the draw after falling to Bo Boyden/Anu Kodali of North Carolina. Faria/Hykkonen lost in the opening round to Simon Baudry/Yi Zhou Liu of Clemson.

Men's Consolation Doubles (Full Results)
After falling out of the main doubles draw in the opening round, Faria/Hyrkkonen suffered a first-round loss in the consolation bracket to Campbell's Raphael Calzi/Dustin Werner.

Coastal is off for the remainder of the month of October, but will return to action to finish its fall schedule at the Georgia Southern Championships, Nov. 2-4 in Statesboro, Ga.
