Series Versus The Panthers
• Georgia State leads the all-time series 1-0, defeating Coastal Carolina 27-21 in the two programs' first-ever meeting last season in Conway, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2017)
• The Panthers returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and scored late in the fourth quarter to take a 27-14 lead.
• Coastal quickly answered, using just 1:11 to cover 80 yards, as
Larry Collins Jr. caught his first career touchdown, a five-yard pass from Tyler Keane to cut the GSU lead to 27-21 after the extra point.
• The Chanticleers tried an on-side kick. But Georgia State recovered, converted a third down and was able to run out the clock to hold on for the 27-21 win.
Road Chants
• Saturday's contest will be the Chanticleers' sixth road game of the season, including the relocated game versus Campbell (Sept. 12) due to Hurricane Florence.
• CCU is 3-2 in road contests this season, including going 1-1 on the road in Sun Belt Conference play.
50/50/50/50
• CCU has made a commitment to the running game this season, as the Chants have rushed the ball over 50 times as a team in each of the last four contests (56 - at Louisiana, 54 - at Troy, 52- vs. ULM, 52 - at UMass).
• During that span, the Chants' offense has totaled 311, 145, 272 and 279 yards on the ground, respectively, for an average of 251.8 yards per game.
• With their 50-plus carries over the last four games, CCU is averaging 4.7 yards per rush.
Chants Time
• The Chanticleers lead the Sun Belt and rank sixth nationally in time of possession at 34:43 minutes per game.
• In fact, at Troy (Sept. 29), the Chants possessed the ball on the offensive side for 40:09, a single-game record.
• Coastal is 4-2 when posting a time of possession of 30:00 or more for the game this season.

You Shall Not Pass
• The CCU defense has held strong on fourth downs this season, as the Chants have forced their opponents to turn the ball over on downs six out of 10 fourth down attempts (4-of-10, 40 percent).
• The CCU defense ranks second in the Sun Belt and 28th nationally in fourth down conversion percentage defense (40 percent).
"D" Party in Massachusetts
• The CCU defense had its best game to date last Saturday in the 24-13 non-conference win at UMass (Oct. 20).
• The Chant D held the Minutemen to just 13 points, 23 points below their season average of 36.3 points per game which ranked 30th nationally.
• CCU held UMass to just 63 rushing yards for the game, an average of 2.9 yards per carry. It was the lowest total allowed by the Chants on the ground this season and marked the second time this year that Coastal held its opponent to under 100 rushing yards in a game (88 yards at Campbell (Sept. 12)).
• The Chants were in the backfield all game, as CCU recorded a season-high 6.0 sacks and 10.0 tackles for loss in the win over the Minutemen.
• CCU also posted a season-high nine pass breakups and also forced four fumbles, recovering two of them.
