Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate

ATLANTA – Coastal Carolina shot a 10-over 298 on its way to a ninth-place finish at the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate. It was a much-better scoring day for the Chants as they finished the event with a three-day total of 922 (308-316-298).
 
CCU's 298 was tied for the second-best score of the day, matching tournament champion and host, Louisville. Auburn was the only other team to shoot a better score finishing the round with a two-over 290.
 
Frantiska Lunackova had the best round of the day for the Chants. She finished the third round shooting an even-par 72. Her three-day total was 231 (78-81-72) and placed her 31st.
 
Marie Lunackova did not finish far behind her sister, shooting a three-over 75. She was CCU's top finisher in the tournament with a 225 (77-73-75) which placed her among the top-20 finishers with a tie for 15th.
 
Freshmen Tiffany Arafi and Jenjira Jinangkul each shot a four-over 76 in the final round of action. Arafi finished tied for 42nd with her 233 (78-79-76) while Jinangkul finished tied for 53rd with her 238 (77-85-76).
 
Stephanie Henning had a solid outing shooting a three-over 75 in today's action. The junior finished the event tied at 51st with a 237 (79-83-75). Alexandra Naumovski also played in the event and shot an 84 today to finish tied for 61st with a 244 (78-82-84).
 
Louisville held off a charging Auburn team finishing with an 882 while Auburn was only one stroke back at 883. Virginia Tech grabbed the lead earlier in today's round, but settled into a third-place finish with a final tally of 889.
 
Rounding out the top five were Indiana (896) and Kennesaw State (905).
 
Georgia (907), East Carolina (913) and Mercer (915) finished just ahead of the Chanticleers while Sun Belt rival Georgia State (941) and Dartmouth (948) finished out the scoring.
 
This was the final event of the fall. The Chants will get back into action at the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Classic. The Classic is set for Feb. 24-26.
