CONWAY – In a tale of two halves, Mackenzie Cherry, Lauren Dabner and Baylee Price led the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Friday evening at the CCU Soccer Stadium in Conway. The win improved the Chants' record to 5-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Sun Belt while Louisiana fell to 3-8-3 and 2-3 in conference action.
 
The first 45 minutes were scoreless with Coastal being the more aggressive of the two teams. The Chants out-shot the visitors 8-4 and held a 5-1 advantage in corners with each team getting a lone shot on goal. Sunny Sigurvinsdottir, Hannah Miller and Dabner paced the first half CCU attack with two shots each.
 
The second half opened with the Ragin' Cajuns having possession, but neither team was able to gain the advantage until Coastal Carolina took their first corner of the period. Brianna Oliver sent a pass through the box that rebounded off several players. Cherry gained control and fired a strike past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 Chanticleer lead in the 62nd minute. It was her first career goal as a Chant.
 
Dabner followed with her second goal of the season off the dish from Loranna Austin in the 69th minute to push the lead to 2-nil. Just 43 seconds later, Price filled the back of the net with her third on the year.
 
For the match the Chants out-shot the visitors 15-7 overall and led 8-2 on corner attempts.
 
Coastal will return to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 9 as they will host ULM and honor the three seniors on this year's squad. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
