Women’s Tennis Wins Nine Matches on First Day of 49er Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team saw its first action of the fall season on Friday as the Chanticleers completed the first day of the Charlotte 49er Invite with a 9-7 combined record in singles and doubles.

Coastal faced off against Charlotte in singles to start the day, with Alicja Zduniak winning in three sets at No. 3 and Maria Khomchenko winning in straight sets at No. 6.

The Chants then shifted to doubles action against Queens, winning three of the four matches played. The Coastal pairings of Jennifer Brown/Alexa Tiefel and Somer Dalla-Bona/Jessie Mount both notched victories, while Maria Khomchenko took the fourth match while paired with Charlotte's Gabriela Gonzalez.

Coastal and Queens remained paired together for six singles matches to close out the day. Zduniak, Mount, Tiefel and Khomchenko won the No. 3-6 matches, respectively.

Coastal will close out its first weekend of fall competition in Charlotte on Saturday.
