Conway, S.C. – Named to the 2018 Biletnikoff Award Watch List earlier this season, Coastal Carolina senior wide receiver Malcolm Williams is on the list for the FAN VOTE of the award that came out this week. Fans can vote here: http://biletnikoffaward.com/fan-vote.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, split end, inside receiver, slot back or running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver, not merely the best wide receiver. The award recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, and former receivers. This season, Williams has posted a team-high 34 catches for 575 yards and four touchdown receptions to lead the receiving corps for the Chants. With his average of 71.9 receiving yards per game, Williams ranks second in the Sun Belt and 62nd nationally. He also ranks second in the Sun Belt and 54th nationally with a team-high average of 16.91 yards per catch this year.
With catches in all eight games thus far this season, Williams has caught at least one pass in 12-straight games dating back to last season.
Totaling a season-high 153 receiving yards through the air at UMass on Oct. 20, Williams has now recorded three 100-plus receiving yard games for his career at CCU, tying him with Chris Jones.
Williams made history at Troy (Sept. 29) when he hauled in a 13-yard reception on the second play of the game to surpass the 1,000 career receiving yards mark at CCU. He is only the 10th player in Coastal history to reach the career milestone.
