Game Notes/Depth Charts

Series Versus South Alabama
• Friday afternoon's contest will be the first-ever meeting between Coastal Carolina and South Alabama on the gridiron.

First Time for Everything
• CCU will play not one, not two, but three teams for the first time ever this season in Campbell (Sept. 12), Louisiana (Sept. 22) and South Alabama (Nov. 23).

• With Hurricane Florence forcing the Campbell-Coastal football game to be moved from Conway, S.C. to Buies Creek, N.C., all three of the Chants' contests versus its first-time foes will come on the road in 2018.

• The Chants are 2-0 this season versus first-time foes with road wins over Campbell (58-21) and Louisiana (30-28) in back-to-back weeks.

Bowl Bid on the Line
• The Chanticleers are just one win away from becoming bowl eligible in their first year of eligibility after two transition seasons from FCS to FBS.

• CCU is looking to join six other Sun Belt teams that have already become bowl eligible in Troy, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, ULM, Arkansas State and Louisiana.
(Disclaimer: Bowl eligibility does not guarantee you a bowl invite)

Snap Out of It
• Both the Chanticleers and the Jaguars are riding a multi-game losing streak into play this Friday. CCU has lost each of its last three contests, while USA has dropped four-straight games.

A Season of Firsts
• The 2018 season has seen a lot of firsts for the Chants, mainly in the wins column.

• Four of the five Chanticleer wins this season are the first wins over their opponents in program history.

Surf Turf Hosting the Myrtle Beach Bowl
• ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, is adding a new bowl game to its roster beginning in 2020 with the creation of the Myrtle Beach Bowl. The game will feature matchups from three conference partners – Conference USA, Mid-American Conference (MAC) and Sun Belt Conference – and will be played at Brooks Stadium on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.
