ATLANTA, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Georgia State in its Sun Belt opener Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site match played at Emory University.

The loss drops Coastal to 1-2 overall, and 0-1 in conference play. Georgia State, meanwhile, improves to 3-3, 1-0.

Georgia State claimed the doubles point on courts and one and two before winning five of the six singles matches.

Alexa Tiefel and Iryna Vardanian, playing on the third doubles court, were the lone Chanticleer pairing to win in doubles. Somer Dalla-Bona and Sara Bondar fell on the first court, while Jessie Mount and Natalie Wall were bested on the second.

Coastal's one point of the match was provided by Iryna Vardanian, who topped Elizabet Danailova in three sets on the first court.

Two GSU players won their singles matches in straight sets, while Dalla-Bona, Wall and Khomchenko took their respective opponents to third sets.

The Chants are back in action at Emory on Sunday, taking on the host university at 10 a.m.
