CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won the first of a pair Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend as it shut out Georgia Southern, 7-0, Saturday morning at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
Coastal's first Sun Belt win of the season improves the Chants to 11-5 overall, and 1-1 against league opponents.
The Chants swept all courts while dropping just three sets in singles.
Coastal's third doubles pairing of Jessie Mount and Rylie Cox started things off with a 6-1 win. Iryna Vardanian and Natalie Wall followed with a 6-2 victory at No. 2, and Sara Bondar and Somer Dalla-Bona capped the doubles sweep, 6-1, at No. 1.
Cox, Dalla-Bona and Wall captured the first, third and fifth singles courts, respectively, in straight sets.
Vardanian (No. 2), Bondar (No. 4) and Maria Khomchenko (No. 6) were all victorious in three sets, each of them falling in the second set before winning the third.
Sun Belt action from the Stevens Tennis Complex continues on Sunday with Coastal hosting Appalachian State at 1 p.m.
