CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team completed its weekend Sun Belt Conference sweep on Sunday as it defeated Appalachian State, 4-2, at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
With its pair of conference wins this weekend, the Chants improve to 12-5, 2-1.
The Mountaineers' opened the match by winning the doubles point, but it was all Coastal the rest of the way as the Chants won four of five singles points to close out the match.
App State took the doubles point with matching 6-4 victories on the first and second courts.
Somer Dalla-Bona evened the match by taking the first singles point on court three, and Sara Bondar followed with a straight-sets win at No. 4 to put the Chants in front, 2-1.
App State briefly evened the match at 2-2 when Melissa Machado defeated Maria Khomchenko at No. 6, but Rylie Cox put the Chants in front 3-2 with a three-set win on the first court.
Iryna Vardanian provided the match-clincher at No. 2 by defeating Teodora Sevo in three sets on the second court.
The No. 5 match went unfinished with Natalie Wall leading Rebecca Morse in the third set.
Coastal has a pair of nonconference matches upcoming at the Stevens Tennis Complex, beginning with Francis Marion at 2:30 p.m. on March 28.
