Women's Golf 16th after Opening Round of Region Action

Tallahassee, Fla. - Coastal Carolina's women's golf showed some rust after being off for the past two weeks finishing the opening day of the Tallahassee Region Championship in 16th place after shooting a 21-over par 309.
After opening the day shooting a nine-over par 153 on the first nine, holes, the day didn't get any better after making the turn. The Chants then shot a 12-over 156 on the back nine.
While there were plenty of struggles during the day it was two holes which saw the Chanticleers lose a large portion of its strokes. On the 12th hole, the Chants went four-over and then closed out the match going four-over on the 18th hole.
Sena Ersoy brought in the low score for the Chants, carding a three-over 75 (38-37). She enters tomorrow's play tied for 53rd.
Malene Krolboll Hansen shot a five-over 77 (37-40) and had her share of problems on the day. She went three over on the final three holes of the day, including a double-bogey on the 18th. She is tied for 73rd.
Marie Lunackova came in shooting a six-over 78 (39-39) and will go into tomorrow's round tied at 76th.
Frantiska Lunackova and Stephanie Henning each carded seven-over 79's in today's action. They are tied at 85th.
The Chants have their work cut out for them over the next two days if they want to finish among the top six teams to move on to the NCAA Championships.
Washington leads the event after shooting a 15-under (273). Furman is second after finishing eight-under (280) and Alabama is third after carding a six-under 282.
Coming in at fourth are Clemson, Tennessee and Wake Forest, each team shooting three-under (285).
