CONWAY – The journey for back-to-back Sun Belt Championships for Coastal Carolina's women's golf team begins Sept. 17th at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. The two-day event is hosted by the University of Tennessee and will be held at the Cherokee Country Club.
Reigning Sun Belt Coach of the Year Katie Quinney returns four players from last season's Sun Belt Championship team and adds three talented newcomers to his year's roster.
Sisters Marie and Frantiska Lunackova both return with All-Sun Belt honors under their belts. Stephanie Henning and Victoria Parker also return following the Chants first Sun Belt Championship and provide plenty of experience.
Quinney is excited about her newcomers which come to CCU with plenty of international experience. Tiffany Arafi (Birsfelden, Switzerland), Jenjira Jinangkul (Bangkok, Thailand) and Alexandra Naumovski (Halton Hills, Ontario), will play their first collegiate match this weekend and over the course of the season should see a lot of action on the links.
The Cherokee Country Club was founded in 1907 and is a Donald Ross links style course. The course is a par 71 and is laid out over either 5,897 yards or 5,840 yards.
Along with CCU, other teams involved in the Championship will be BYU, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Illinois, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, South Dakota State, Tennessee, Central Florida, Texas-San Antonio, Charlotte, and Chattanooga.
