Game Notes/Depth Charts
Evacuated and Relocated
• Due to Hurricane Florence, the Chanticleers were forced to evacuate campus and their homes, and have been "on the road" since Sept. 11. CCU's football student-athletes, support staff, coaches, coaches' families and even pets have been in Jacksonville, Fla. since Sept. 13.
• With the relocation of the originally scheduled home contest moved to Campbell and Buies Creek, N.C. last week (Sept. 12), CCU will now play three-straight road games - at Campbell, at Louisiana (Sept. 22) and at Troy (Sept. 29).
Unique Schedule Dynamic
• CCU'S game with Campbell was moved up from Saturday, Sept. 15, to Wednesday, Sept. 12 and was relocated to Buies Creek, N.C. and Barker-Lane Stadium.
• With the game being moved up four days, CCU had just four days of rest between its week two game versus UAB (Sept. 8) and its contest at Campbell (Sept. 12).
• Having not played since Sept. 12, the Chants have had 10 days between games before Saturday's kickoff versus Louisiana (Sept. 22).
Sun Belt Conference Play
• Coastal Carolina is playing its first Sun Belt Conference game as a full-fledged FBS member on Saturday night at Louisiana.
• After losing its first six Sun Belt games a year ago, CCU has won each of its last two conference games with wins over Idaho and Georgia State to close out the 2017 season.
• Playing a full Sun Belt Conference slate for the first-time last year, the Chants went 2-6 overall in league play.
Put It On The Board!!!!
• Over the last two games, both of which have been 20-plus point wins, the CCU offense has totaled 105 points.
• In the win last week at Campbell (58-21), the Chants scored a new FBS-era record high 58 points. The 58 points is also the most points by CCU since scoring 58 points in a loss at Charleston Southern on Oct. 1, 2016.
• Prior to the 58-point performance at Campbell (Sept. 12), the CCU offense tallied 47 points in a home win over UAB (47-24). At the time, the 47 points was the most for the Chanticleers in the FBS era and the most points scored since posting 48 points versus Presbyterian College on Oct. 29, 2016.
Chasing 1,000
• Wide receiver
Malcolm Williams is on the verge of making history, as the senior is just 46 yards away from eclipsing the 1,000 career receiving yards mark. He enters Saturday's game with 954 career receiving yards at CCU.
Second Half Shutouts
• The CCU defense has pitched not one, but two second half-shutouts in each of the last two games - both of which were blowout wins.
• After surrendering 24 points and 318 yards in the first half versus UAB (Sept. 8), in which Coastal Carolina trailed UAB 24-20 at the halftime break, CCU held the Blazers to just 117 yards on a punt, missed field goal, turnover on downs and an interception over the final two quarters of play in the 47-24 win.
• Campbell scored on each of its first three possessions and totaled 235 yards of offense in the first half before the CCU defense locked down the Fighting Camels in the second half by holding Campbell to just 71 yards, four punts and a blocked field goal.
