CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State women's soccer match scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, at the CCU Soccer Stadium in Conway is being moved to Boone, N.C. The match will take place on Sunday, Sept. 30, with the kickoff scheduled for noon.
Â
With the CCU campus closed for the safety of all students and student-athletes, and the women's soccer team still on the road from its last two matches over the weekend in Alabama, the two schools agreed that the change in venue was the best thing for both teams.
"In lieu of travel concerns we have moved our home game versus Appalachian State to Boone, N.C. Appalachian State's Head Coach, Sarah Strickland, reached out to us to check on our safety a week ago," said head coach Paul Hogan. "Once we felt the conditions were not ideal for teams to travel back to Conway and for us to host a home game, I spoke with Sarah again and she offered to host this year's game and move next year's game to Conway. We did not want to move our home game, but our community has been under a great deal of stress and we did not want to add to it."
The Mountaineers will instead visit the Chanticleers in 2019 to make up for the schedule location change.
